Hi! I am Fan Zhou 周凡, a Ph.D. candidate in Technology and Operations at the Ross School of Business, University of Michigan.
I am broadly interested in socially responsible operations that create value for both businesses and society. My recent research focuses on food waste reduction, specifically examining how innovative retailing models can reduce waste and enhance profitability in contexts of information asymmetry. I utilize methodologies including game theory, dynamic programming, and robust optimization.
In the summer of 2023, I worked as a Research Scientist Intern at Amazon. Before joining UMich, I earned my master's degree in Industrial Engineering at the University of Toronto and a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Science and Technology of China. During the one-year gap between my studies at USTC and UofT, I worked at P&G as a supplier quality manager.
I am currently on the 2024-2025 academic job market.
